Mecca Masjid

Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad, Telangana 


Mecca masjid (Arabic: ‎and Urdu:  also Makkah masjid, is one in all the oldest mosques in Hyderabad, Andhra pradesh, India, And it’s one in all the most important Mosques in India. Makkah masjid may be a listed heritage building within the previous city of Hyderabad, near the historic landmarks of Chowmahalla Palace, Laad Bazaar, and Charminar.


 Mecca masjid History:

Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi family, commissioned bricks to be made up of the soil brought from Mecca, the holiest site of Islam, and used them within the construction of the central arch of the mosque, so giving the masjid its name. It fashioned the centerpiece around that town was planned by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah.

Construction of Mecca masjid:
 Makkah masjid was engineered throughout the reign of Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth Qutb Shahi Grand Turk of source (now Hyderabad). The 3 arched facades are carved from one piece of granite that took 5 years to quarry. Over 8,000 staff was used to create the masjid. Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in person ordered the muse stone. The construction was later completed by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb when conquest Hyderabad.
Jean-Baptiste Tavernier, the French adventurer, in his attraction observed;
“It is regarding 50 years since they began to create a splendid temple within the city which can be the grandest altogether India it’s completed. the size of the stone is that the subject of special accomplishment, which of a distinct segment, that is its place for prayer, is a whole rock of such huge size that they spent 5 years in production it, and 500 to 600 men were used frequently on its work. It needed still longer to roll it au courant to conveyance by that they brought it to the pagoda; and that they took 1400 oxen to draw it.”


Mecca masjid tower design:

The main hall of the masjid is 75 feet high, 220 feet wide and 180 feet long, enough to accommodate 10,000 worshipers at a time. Fifteen arches support the roof of the most hall, 5 on every of the 3 sides. A wall rises on the fourth aspect to produce Mihrab.
At the height of the minarets flanking the masjid is AN arched gallery, and on tops of that a small dome and a tower. Inscriptions from the Qur’an adorn several of the arches and doors. The most structure of the masjid is sandwiched between 2 large octangular columns created out of one piece of granite. The cornices running round the entire masjid structure and therefore the floral motifs and friezes over the arches inform the tourer of the nice attention paid to detail in Qutub Shahi design. They need an in depth likeness to the arches at Charminar and Golkonda Fort.

On the four sides of the roof on the most masjid, the ramparts ar made from granite planks within the form of inverted conches perked on pedestals. From the cornice of the masjid, its minarets don’t seem to be as high because the minarets on the mazaar (Nizams tombs) haven from their cornice. The octangular columns have arched balconies on level with the roof of the masjid with AN sunshade for a cover, on top of that the column continues upwards until it’s topped by a dome and tower.

Tombs
The entrance yard of the masjid, an oblong, arched and covered building homes the marble graves of Asaf Jahi rulers. This structure came up throughout the rule of the Asaf Jah rulers. It contains the tombs of the Nizams and their family.
At each ends of this resting place for the Asaf Jahs and really abundant a district of it, ar 2 rectangular blocks with four minarets every. These minarets have elegant and circular balconies with low decorative walls and arches. On top of them is AN octangular inverted platter from that the remainder of the tower soars until it’s inactive by a dome and a tower.
The Makkah musjid may be a listed heritage building; however, lack of maintenance and growing pollution has withered and cracked the structure. It received a chemical wash in 1995. To stop any harm, the province government created Charminar a traffic-free zone in August 2001.

Legends of Mecca masjid :
 On the sting of the lake are 2 stone and block benches. Whoever sits on them, in line with legend, returns to sit down on them once more.
A room in the yard is believed to deal with a hair of the islamic prophet Muhammed.
